The Effect of Silver Nanoparticles on the Healing Process of Excisional Skin Wounds in Adult Albino Rats: Histological and Immunohistochemical Study

Maha Khaled El-Ashry;

Abstract

Skin wound is defined as a disruption of normal tissue structure and function following injury that happens by different reasons.
Delayed healing of wounds constitutes economic burden to health care system and causes reduction in the quality of life.
Different approaches are used to promote wound healing such as antimicrobials, anti-inflammatory like silver sulphadiazine (SSD, dermazine cream) and cell growth promoting agents. However, there have been constant search for new methods which enhance wound healing and reduce scar tissue formation.
