Ahmed Zakaria Eweiss;
Abstract
Sino nasal polyposis is, perhaps, the earliest disease, for which we know now the names of both the patient and the physician. Its recorded history goes back for more th:m 4000 years in ancient Egypt, when the Egypiian rhinologist, Ni-Ankh Sekhmet, treated King Sahura from a disease, which was most probably sino-nasal polyposis.
1be incidence of this disease is not precisely !r.nown, but. it is estimated that 1-4% of he general population suffer from sino-nasal polypi.
It has been shown that diffuse sino-nasal polypi originate in the ethmoidal sinuses.
