Geological and hydrogeological studies on El-Faiyum area and its vicinities and the propability of groundwater pollution in the area
Ahmed Gaber Shedid Ibrahim;
Abstract
The present thesis mainly deals with geological, hydrogeological and hydrogeochemical studies of El-Faiyum
depression and its vicinities. The studied area lies between
Latitudes 29° 001-29° 40 1 N and Longitudes 30• 20 -31° 00 E,
with an ar.ea of about 1700 Km2 with a general slope towards the northwest where lake Qarun is located. The Nile limits
the studied area to the east.
For geological studies an 127 rock samples were collected from six surface sections distributed in the area under study namely G. El-Naalun, G. El- Lahun, G. El-Russ,
El-Nazla,•Geziret El-Qarn/El-Dahabi and Sedmant. The author
