Role of Rice Husk Ash for Heterogeneous Catalytic Conversion of Some Organic Compounds and of Its Effect on Some Environmental Hazards

Amira Said Hassan Mohamed;

Abstract

Agricultural waste materials are one of the hazards for environmental life. Moreover, NiO nanoparticles have been employed as heterogeneous catalysts for various organic transformations. The activity and selectivity of these catalysts depended upon its physical and chemical structure and the technique of their preparation.
It is of interest therefore to study the heterogonous catalytic conversion of benzylol as example in nickel oxide solid support over agricultural waste material as rice husk ash and silica gel from tetraethylorthosilicate in flow system under normal pressure, since as one of products of the conversion of benzylol is benzaldehyde. Benzaldehyde is an important intermediate for various compounds in the pharmaceutical, resins, dyes, additives, flavors and organic solvents.
