SYNTHESIS AND EVALUATION OF SOME / QUINOLENONE DERIVATIVES OF EXPECTED SURFACE AND BIOLOGICAL ACTIVITIES
Nahed Mohamed Mostafa;
Abstract
It was reported that Coumarinc nucleolus and their derivatives have various important characters, like physical activities (antihelelminities; hypothermal and vasodilatatary action, biological activities, and pharmacological action. The conversion of coumarine into N-quinolenonyl acetic acid, aiming to use as starting material in the preparation of different types of the surface and biological active agents.
Part (1)
Nonionic surfactants were prepared by the reaction of coumarine with glycine in the presence of dry xylene leads to formation ofN-quinolenyl acetic acid (I). Then reaction of N-quinolenyl acetic acid with ethoxylated fatty alcohols (C8_1 s) with different moles number of ethylene oxide (n = 5, 8 and 12
/moles), in the presence acidify molecular sieve to produce different compounds
of ethoxylated quinolenonyl acetate derivatives (IIa- VIle). The structures were elucidated by different spectroscopic tools.
The surface active properties of the prepared products( IIa - VIle ) were evaluated, and studied including solubility, cloud point, surface and interfacial tension, foaming, emulsification, also biodegradability properties, antibacterial and antifungal activity were examined. Also the products are good biodegradable surfactants, the prepared compounds show good surface and biological activities which manifested the importance in the different industrial fields.

Part (2)
Cationic surfactants were prepared by the reaction of coumarine with ethanol amine in dry xylene leads to formation of N-(hydroxyethyl) quinolinone (VIII). Then reaction of N-(2-hydroxyethyl) quinolenone with alkyl halids ofCx to C1 x in dry acetone to gave (IX a-1). Most of the products arc
good biodegradable surfactants. The prepared cationic surfactants showed good
surface and biological activities in a comparing with that prepared nonionic one, that manifested the importance in the different industrial fields and good biological activity.
