Abstract
Breech presentation is the commonest type of malpresentation, so it is one of the most important and critical situations in obstetrics.
ncidence of breech presentation ts 3-4% of all deliveries.
There is no definitive cause but there are many causes related to the mother such as: uterine anomalies, abnormality of the amniotic fluid, high parity and history of previous breech. Also there are causes related to the fetus such as: congenital anomalies, intrauterine growth retardation and prematurity.
Types of breech presentation are mainly:
Complete breech, frank breech and incomplete
(footling) type.
Diagnosis of these cases is mainly by clinical and radiological diagnosis. The clinical diagnosis includes careful history taking, abdominal examination and vaginal examination.
The radiological diagnosis is by ultrasound, X-ray, CT
or MR.l.
