Abstract

Medical treatment of second trimester miscarriage has been shown to be reasonable effective alternative to surgical evacuation. Although surgical evacuation was introduced to reduce risk of hemorrhage, it is reported to be associated with many complications including cervical trauma, perforation of the uterus and endometritis. In addition, uterine synechia, reduced fertility, tubal damage, and pelvic pain have been reported as long-term complications.
