USING SOME MICROORGANISMS IN WEED CONTROL AND THEIR DEVELOPMENT AS BIOHERBICIDES

Merhan Mohammed Galal Eldine Tawfik;

Abstract

This study aimed to obtain biocontrol agents that can be developed and applied against seeds and seedlings of annual and perennial weeds in which C. arvensis and P. oleracea were targeted because of their harmful effects on crop production. To achieve the goal of this study, microorganisms including bacteria and fungi were isolated from soil and rhizosphere. Then, the fungal and bacterial isolates were bioassayed on seeds and seedlings of C. arvensis and P. oleracea. In addition LC-MS/MS analysis was performed to identify the profile of metabolites produced by active isolates and the most active isolate was tested on weeds under greenhouse conditions.
