Blepharoplasty Essa

SHEREIN SHAFIK WAHBA;

Abstract

Ophthalmic plastic surgery involves the repair and reconstruction of the structures surrounding the eyes, specifically the eyelids and orbit. A pleasing cosmetic appearance is the desired goal. More important, however, is restoration of function.
Blepharoplasty in common usage refers to a surgical procedure in which excess tissue of the upper and lower eyelids is removed. However, successful blepharoplasty must always address underlying mid-face structural abnormalities, as well as simple removal of redundant skin and fat.
Most adult oculoplastic procedures can be done under local anesthesia, thus the hazards and complications of general anesthesia can. be avoided. Local infilterative anesthesia containing epinephrine for haemostasis is adequate for blepharoplasty procedures.
