Diagnostic role of serum neutrohilic / lymphocytic and platelet / lymphocytic ratio in upper gastrointestinal lesions in correlation with histopathological results of endoscopic ultrasonography and upper gastrointestinal endoscpic biopsies

Sarah Sami Salem Asar;

Abstract

Sub mucosal lesions of the gastrointestinal tract are
now considered to be a frequently found during upper
gastrointestinal endoscopy and they are characterized by
wide diversity in their nature, although most of them are
known to be benign lesions, there always have a potentially
malignant risk. Endosonographic ultra sound was found be
the “Gold standard” for diagnosis however, recently there
is a great interests in studying other simple tools which can
be less invasive, more accessible, simpler and most
important of all cost effective. One of the most studied
tools were the effect of serum inflammatory markers as
neutrophils, platelets and lymphocytes in the cancer
promotion and their significance in the early detection of
different types of malignancies and their prognosis so
achieving a diagnosis in the perfect time for the tumor
resection or other treatment modalities
