Abstract
Dementia may be defined as a disorder that is characterized by a decline in cognition involving one or more cognitive domains (learning and memory, language, executive function, complex attention, perceptual, motor, social-cognition).
Care giving for persons with dementia is a global issue because today, over 46 million people live with dementia worldwide. This number is estimated to increase to 131.5 million by 2050.
Caregiver burden has been defined as a multidimensional response to physical, psychological, emotional, social and financial stressors associated with the care giving experience.
