TRANSCRANIAL DOPPLER AND CT ANGIOGRAPHY OF THE CEREBRAL ARTERIES IN EGYPTIAN SICKLE CELL PATIENTS
Rania Nabil Sayed Abd elmohsen;
Abstract
To sum up,. Sickle cell disease (SCD) is one of the most common genetic diseases worldwide. It is a chronic haemolytic disorder that is marked by tendency of haemoglobin molecules within red cells to polymerise and deform the red cell into a shape resulting in characteristic vaso-occlusive events and accelerated haemolysis. Cerebrovascular accidents (CVA) are the most common cerebral insults reported in SCD patients caused by stenosis and occlusion of large vessels.
