Abstract
Background: Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) is emerging as a new promising therapy for the treatment of morbid obesity. This procedure, originally conceived as a first stage for achieving weight loss in superobese patients before performing GBP or BPD, has revealed to be effective on its own and a potential competitor with these operations. Aim of the Work: to focus on the role of Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy (LSG) as a method of bariatric treatment in patients with type 2 Diabetes or abnormalities in glucose homeostasis, and glycemic control status [blood glucose, hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) and hypoglycemic treatment.
