Cardiovascular failure and methods of support after cardiac surgery
Maged Labib Boules;
Abstract
Patients that develop cardiovascular failure following cardiac surgery fall into a variety of different categories, including patients who
. develop postoperative arrhythmias and those requiring postoperative inotropic support In addition, the need for postoperative inotropic suppot1 may be raised by low cardiac output syndrome, chronic heat1 failure or acute myocardial infraction.
Support of the failing heat1 can be implemented, either by physiological support or, in the worst scenario (when the heat1fails to compensate itself). Pharmacological and mechanical support can be introduced.
