Mark Mouris Ekladious;

Abstract

Our study suggests that ankle arthrodesis with retrograde nailing is a safe and effective management option for charcot ankle instability in patients with charcot neuroarthropathy.
Ankle arthrodesis with a retrograde intramedullary nailing became an accepted option of achieving better stability and allowing the use of accommodative footwear in patients with Charcot ankle arthropathy.
Chrcot Ankle arthrodesis for charcot neuroarthropathy represents the only surgical approach able to decrease the pain and obtains more stabilization of the ankle joint and allows the patient to rapid return to walk.

Fixation and its use in this difficult disease have been more common.
The data from this study provides a high rate of limb salvage, suggesting that this technique is more safe and effective in the management of charcot neuropathy of the ankle.
The tibio-calcaneal retrograde intramedullary nail with a compressive implant device achieves a safe and efficacious fixation technique.
Ankle arthrodesis with a retrograde intramedullary nail has been used successfully in patients with charcotarthropathy.
