Using of in vitrocultures in genetic enhancing of date palm

Ahmed Sayed Ali Ali El Adway;

Abstract

In vitro and in vivo studies and praline analysis were
carried out during 2001-2004 seasons on to (Zaghloul and Samani). test the tolerance to u1 vitro and in vivo saline conditions Also, to study the relationship between the praline content and the tolerru1ce to saline conditions• in these cultivars .
Data revealed that all treatments of mercuric chloride gave the lowest contamination percentages. And the lowest survival percentages . Zaghloul cultivar was superior to San1ani cultivar in averages of weight and dian1eter of callus, number and length of the roots from in vitro shoots and the growth parameters in • the acclimatization stage. On the other hand. Srunani cultivar as superior to Zaghloul cultivar in averages of number d length of in vitro shoots and growth param.eters of in vitro embryos. .
rrhere were reversely proportional between concentration . pf the salts and the growth parameters of the two studied bultivars in either in vitro or in vivo conditions. •
aghoul cultivar had more prali11e content than Samani . bultivar and exhibited more tolerance to either in vitro or
f n vivo saline conditions which reflected positive elationship between the praline contents and the
. olerance to saliae conditions in the two cultivars .
