Abstract

Egyptian society witnessed a series of radical economic transformations beginning in the mid-1970s, with the shift towards economic openness, the rise in the application of privatization policies, and the growth of the private sector in the fields of economy and other areas, Which resulted in the spread of a range of economic activities outside the official domain of the Egyptian economy, which were called informal economic activities. The informal sector includes several types that can be classified into legitimate, other illegal economic patterns.Illegal economic activities play a negative role towards the growth of the national economy, affect the nature of social reality, and result in negative social and economic phenomena affecting Egyptian social construction. This type of activity has been called several names, mainly called "hidden economic activities". The current study aimed to identify the social dimensions of the hidden economic activities in Cairo.
