BREAST SCREENING: ORGANIZATION, FUNCTION AND ROLE IN EARLY DETECTION OF BREAST CARCINOMA

Abstract


This work was carried out on 138 cases presented to the Breast assessment clinic, Surgical Oncology Unit, General Surgery Department, Alexandria Main University Hospital within a
period of 6 months.




/' This study was performed on breast screening as regard organisation, function and role in early detection of breast
carcinoma.




All cases were subjected to the following

1. Full history taking.

. 2.Thorough physical examination general and local.

3. Impression.

4.Recommendations and

5.Therapy




Cases screened through the breast assessment clinic were

138 in number, in an interval of 6 months, showed early detection of breast carcinoma in 7 cases; belonging to stages
1&11 with 4 cases showed no clinically palpable breast lumps just

proved by double view mammograms and verified by U/S. The remaining 3 cases with palpable breast lumps ; not exceeded 2 ems in diameter. Ipsilateral mobile lymph nodes , were clinically
palpable in 3 cases mobile.
