Abstract
Abstract
The present work was planned to study the immune response of ducks
vaccinated with locally prepared bivalent inactivated vaccine of R.
anatipestifer and E.coli adjuvanted with Montanide ISA71. One hundred
(100) Pekin ducklings one day-old apparently healthy were divided into five
groups, the 1st group was vaccinated with R. anatipestifer vaccine, the 2nd
group was vaccinated with E.coli vaccine, the 3rd group was vaccinated
with bivalent E.coli- R. anatipestifer vaccine, the 4
th
group and the 5th group
were kept unvaccinated as a control group. The prepared vaccines were
evaluated by evaluation of the humoral immunity by indirect
hemagglutination and ELISA techniques. The potency of the vaccines was
evaluated by the challenge test. The results showed that bivalent inactivated
vaccine of E.coli- R. anatipestifer adjuvanted with Montanide ISA71 induced
high and long duration of antibody response and significant protection agains
the challenge with virulent strains of R. anatipestifer and E.coli in vaccinated
ducks.
