Abstract


This study was conducted on twelve patients with mandibular angle fractures selected from the out patient clinic, oral surgery department, Faculty of Oral and Dental Medicine, Cairo University .

Patients were submitted to thorough clinical examination, and radiographic investigation. Data collected were recorded in a prefabricated examination chart.

Preanesthestic evaluation, necessary laboratory investigations were done to test the fitness of the patients for the general anesthestic session and to the surgical procedures.

Patients were divided randomly into two groups, angle fractures in both groups were treated using superior border mini-plate, fixed with monocortical screws.

In groupll, the maxilla-mandibular fixation (MMF) was discontinued immediately after reduction and fixation, while in the other group, maxello-mandibular fixation (MMF) was extended for seven to ten days post-operatively.

Clinical and radiographic post-operative check-up for all patients, were done immediate post-operatively, and at one month, three months, and six months intervals.
