Abstract

Films of pure Gelatin and five Gelatin samples doped with the ferroelectric material triglycine sulphate (TGS) at various concentrations of 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 wt. %TGS by weight have been prepared using the solvent-casting technique.
The effect of TGS on Gelatin at various concentrations has been studied by using X-ray diffraction (XRD), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Ultraviolet visible spectra (UV-vis) and infrared spectroscopy (FTlR) to characterize the structural, thermal and optical properties of all films.
X-ray diffraction analysis indicates that the addition of TGS affect the morphology of the composite films. Differential scanmng calorimetry(DSC) used to measure the transition , melting temperatures and crystallinity of both Gelatin and Gelatin/TGS systems. Thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) analysis shows that the additions of
TGS to Gelatin films enhance their thermal stability. The kinetic thermodynamic parameters such as: E', s•, H•and G•are calculated by two methods Coats-Redfern and Horowitz-Metzger.
