Fourth Order DC Buck Converter for Photo Voltaic System

Ahmed Gamal Abdelrahman Abdelglel;

Abstract

FOBC has replaced the conventional BCIF in PV MPPT applications. It is essential to have current and voltage sensors in MPPT applications for the sake of measuring the solar cell array parameters continuously. Unfortunately, using a lot of sensors makes the system more expensive and more complex. This thesis applies a current sensor less algorithm that uses voltage sensor only without need for current measurements to force FOBC to operate at the PPP. Many control techniques was used to reach the PPP in the literature. The objective of this thesis is studying the behavior of two different control MPPT techniques using voltage information only. The techniques under study are: P&O, the most commonly used MPPT technique, and ACO technique which achieved fascinating results in the recent researches. The design aspects which control the performance of the proposed techniques are also discussed. The whole PV system is studied and simulated depending on the MATLAB environment to achieve this purpose.
