Techno Feasibility Study for the Production of Drag Reducing Agents in Egypt Using Natural Polymer

Mohamed Farid Abdelaziz Hatata;

Abstract

Using large number of long pipelines transporting crude oil (more than 5,000 km through the transfer of cured oil from fields to treatment units or transfer crude oil to refineries), large amount of energy lose through pumping stations due to friction, occur between the fluid layers and the internal surface of the pipeline. Drag reducer agent largely used to reduce energy losses. DRA is expensive and not locally produced. There is a great need to locally produce DRA to save foreign currency. Preparation of a number of local DRA from high molecular weight polymers by varying the polymer concentrations and maintain the additives constant.
