Diagnostic Imaging for Early Detection of Intrauterine Down Syndrome

Mram Abdel-Fatah Abdel-Mohsen Sheta;

Abstract

Abstract
Down syndrome is a relatively common congenital disorder caused by the presence of an extra 21 chromosome. Despite advances in antenatal screening and pregnancy termination, the prevalence of DS is increasing due to advanced maternal age and increased longevity of DS individuals. The excess 21 chromosomal material can result from non-disjunctional DS, translocation DS, and mosaic DS.
