Assessment of Stresses Induced around Mini and Conventional implant Supporting Kennedy Class II Partial Denture (Strain Gauge Analysis)

Lamiaa Gouda Al-Shaheer;

Abstract

A strain gauge analysis study was conducted to assess and compare the stresses induced by mini implant supported Kennedy class II partial overdentures on the supporting structures in comparison to stresses induced by conventional implant supported Kennedy class II partial overdentures.
Two identical acrylic mandibular models representing Kennedy class II with right first premolar as last abutment teeth were used for this study. Replication of the mucosa overlying the residual ridge area was done.
Two mini-implants (2.1 mm in diameter and 10 mm in length) with ball head design were placed in the first molar area of one model. While, one conventional implant (4 mm in diameter and 10 mm in length) was placed in the first molar area of the other model. Ball head abutment was screwed to the conventional implant.
