Assessment of Corneal Epithelial Thickness in Chronic Contact Lens Users Using Anterior Segment Optical Coherence Tomography
Areeg Adel Mohamed EL Sayed Ahmed Rezk;
Abstract
The corneal epithelium is continuously renewed and plays a very important role in protecting eyes as it is the outer most layer, it also maintains a high optical quality as well.soft contact lens are widely used world wide and they affect the corneal epithelium with the chronic use of soft contact lens.
Anterior segment optical coherence tomography is a new non-invasive, non contact imaging technique, has also been recently found to be a reliable instrument for measuring corneal and corneal epithelial thickness and for monitoring alterations within these structures.
