Evaluation of Retrievability And Sealing Ability of GuttaFlow Bioseal (An in vitro study)

Mohamed Riad Kamel El-Garhy;

Abstract

ur study was conducted to evaluate the retrievability and sealing ability of the new bioactive silicon based sealer Guttaflow bioseal and comparing it to MTA Fillapex and Adseal sealers
Retrievability, was evaluated by measuring the percentage of remaining obturation filling material and the time required for retreatment process. Sealing ability was evaluated using dye penetration method (clearing method).
The total number of samples (n=90) were classified into three main groups (I, II, and III) (n=30) according to the root canal sealer used. Each main group was subdivided into two subgroups according to evaluation method: Subgroup 1 (n=20) where retrievability of the filling material was evaluated and subgroup 2 (n=10) where sealing ability was evaluated.
Samples were decoronated, prepared using Protaper universal files until F4. Group I was obturated using gutta-percha and Adseal sealer by lateral condensation technique, group II was obturated using gutta-percha and MTA Fillapex sealer by lateral condensation technique, and group III was obturated using gutta-percha and Guttaflow bioseal sealer by lateral condensation technique.
