Abstract

Enuresis is one of the most common pediatric problems. It IS the involuntary discharge of urine after the age by which the bladder control should have been established, which is beyond the age of 5 years.

Approximately 15 %. Of 6 year old children are still wet at night with spontaneous cure rate 15 %per year. Enuresis is
more common in boys than in girls and more in lower
. .
• SOCIOeC.On01111C groups.

Enuresis should be considered a symptom and not a disease as there is no documented aetiology or treatment for that disease.

Enuresis may be primary or secondry, primary enuresis is enuresis in a child who since infancy hasn't been consistently dry for a period of several months in the 1st 5 years of life, while in secondry enuresis, child can be dried for several years in the first years of life then become incontinent after that.

The aetiology of pnmary N.E remains somewhat controversial but may include genetic factors, decreased functional bladder capacity, increased diuresis at night, immature arousal mechanism, and abnormal ADH secretion.
