LOADING OF PRAZIQUANTEL IN NANOCARRIER AS A NEW THERAPEUTIC APPROACH TOWARDS SCHISTOSOMIASIS MANSONI: AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY

Abstract

Schistosomiasis mansoni is a major source of morbidity and mortality for the developing countries in Africa. The main pathology observed in schistosomiasis mansoni is attributed to dysregulated cellular immune responses directed against ova of the parasite. The granulomatous inflammatory immune response to S. mansoni eggs induces oxidative stress. Cytokines are believed to play a fundamental role in the pathology of schistosome infection through the modulation of fibrosis amount and granuloma size.
