STUDY ON HOUSE DUST MITES

Abstract


This study was carried out to study house dust mites which are the most important allergen associated with allergy (asthma and atopic dermatitis) in many parts of the world.

Our study was conducted on 50 atopic dermatitis patients, •

32 asthmatic patients and 18 healthy control. All of them were

. subjected to full history taking, clinical examination, allergic skin test to the prepared house dust mite antigen in addition to laboratory investigations including serum immunoglobulins (total, IgG, IgE and lgM), peripheral blood eosinophilic count and agar gel diffusion test.

Identification of house dust mites m dwellings of atopic dermatitis, asthmatic patients and• control group were performed.

Our results showed that 58% of atopic patients and53.2% of asthmatic patients lived in rural areas. Most of infected houses were located in rural areas and the most infected area was Bakhati (31.3%).

About 78% of atopic patients and .75% of asthmatic patients were living in old houses.
