COMPARATlVE STUDY BETWEEN PLANNER SCUINTIGRAPHY AND SPECT IN CASES WITH BONE METASTASES

Abd-Elghany Abd-Elfattah Hassan;

Abstract

The present work is devoted to study the physical factors that could affected the image quality in bone SPECT technique. The factors did include different acquisition and processing parameters such as matrix size, time for acquisition, preprocessing filter and reconstruction back projection filter. Our results revealed that the best matrix size was 64 x 64. The acquisition time was tested between 20 s/step to 40 s/step. It has been found that the optimal acquisition time was 20 s/step. Concerning the preprocessing filter; the 9-BW (8-0.3), and the F-BW (8-0.3) were the best. At the same time the back projection filters were applied by Ramp, Shepp and Logan, Medium, and Chesler. It has been found also that the best reconstruction back projection filter was Ramp filter.

From the above results, the matrix size 64 x 64, acquisition time 20 s/step, preprocessing filter (9-BW( 8-0.3) and F-BW (8-
0.3)) and reconstruction back projection filter Ramp were
selected as the optimum parameters to be taken into
consideration with bone SPECT technique.
