The Effect of Postoperative Dexamethasone on Wound Healing After Rigid Fixation of Facial Fracture “Randomized Clinical Trial”
Ahmed Tawfeek Mahdy EL-Gebely;
Abstract
Edema is one of the inevitable consequences of the surgical procedure of open reduction and internal fixation of maxillofacial fractures. Many drugs are used to control postoperative edema. These drugs include corticosteroids, protease enzyme and non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. Some of these drugs have side effects.
Corticosteroids are considered the most potent anti-edematous drugs and dexamethasone is the most common anti-edematous drug used among other corticosteroids due to its lower mineralocorticoid effect.
