Correlation between Diabetic Macular Edema and Best Corrected Visual Acuity in Different Categories of Diabetic Retinopathy

Elsayed Akef Abdelhafiz Mohamed;

Abstract

iabetic retinopathy and diabetic macular edema are the major causes of blindness in the working population of developed countries.
DME is a complex pathological process caused by multiple factors, including breakdown of the inner and outer blood-retinal barriers, oxidative stress, and elevated levels of vascular endothelial growth factor. Early detection and treatment of DME can prevent vision loss.
