Left Ventricular diastolic function relation to Left Ventricular end diastolic pressuand systolic performancere and systolic performance

MOHAMMED ABDEL KHALIK NADA;

Abstract

Doppler echocardiography currently is the primary technique used for evaluation of Lv diastolic function. This
study included 60 patients who were admitted to Ain Shams university hospital during the period fromDecember 1999 to September 2000.

All patients were subjected to: - (1) Careful history taking.
(2) Twelve lead surface electrocardiogram. (3) Chest x-ray.
(4) Cardiac cathterization.
(5) Echo cardiographic examination.

Patients were divided according to LVEF (estimated by echocardiography 2D area length method) and LVEDP (as measured during cardiac
catheterization) into four groups:
- Group I: patients with normal LVEF and normal
LVEDP. (Control group)
- Group II: patients with normal LVEF and elevated
LVEDP.
-Group III: patients with decreased LVEF and normal
LVEDP.
-Group IV: patients with decreased LVEF and elevated
LVEDP.

The following data were obtained from Doppler echocardiography;
(E) Wave velocity, (A) wave velocity, E I A ratio, IVRT, E deceleration time, and A wave duration all in MFV curve. (A) Wave duration in PFV curve and the ratio between (A) wave duration on MFV I (A) duration on PFV curves.
