Insulin like growth factor system in insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) in children and yong adolescents in Menoufiya

Abstract


The present work was designed to study some factors which may contribute to the growth pattern, degree of control of
. diabetes mellitus and the pathogenesis of microvascular and macrovascular complications of diabetes mellitus. In addition, the relation between IGF-land IGFBP-3 and the diabetes mellitus.

The study includes 60 subject classified into three groups:


Group 1 include 30 diabetic patient treated with insulin more than 1 year.

Group 2 include 10 diabetic patient newly diagnosed, and does not take insulin treatment yet.

Group 3 include 20 normal apparently healthy subjects as a reference group.

All studied cases and control group were subjected to a careful history taking and complete clinical examination.

The following parameters were estimated:


• The Height in (Cm) and the height percentile


• the weight in (Kg) and the weight percentile


The following laboratory examinations were measured:


• the FBS and PP levels


• the kidney function tests
