EFFECT OF AXIAL LOADING AND TEMPERATURE CYCLING ON MICROLEAKAGE OF PORCELAIN AND COMPOSITE INLAY RESTORATIONS

Abstract


Duceram LFC (DC) ceramic, and Tetric (TET) and Heliomolar (HM) composite resins were used to make 120 indirect inlays. MOD cavities were prepared with one gingival margin in enamel (EN)and the other in den tine (DN). The inlays were cemented using a bonding agent (All-Bond 2 , Bisco) and a resin cement (Duolink, Bisco). Each group was divided into four subgroups (n=10). The control group were subjected to no fatigue (NF), and the others to either thermal fatigue (TF = 2400 thermocycles at Sc to 55) , mechanical fatigue (MF= 960000 loadcycles at max=15kg), or both thermal and mechanical (TMF) in 0.5% basic fuchsin dye. The teeth were sectioned and microleakage was scored on a 0-4 scale. The 2-Way (MATxTX) repeated measure(EN,DN) ANOVA indicated that factors TX and Surface (EN,DN) significanly affected the microleakge scores.


Part 11:

MOD in 80 extracted lower molrs were prepared. 40 teeth were restored with duceram LFC(DC) and the rest with tetric(TET) composite inlays.The half of each group were bonded using dental adhesive(ALL bond2)with composite resin luting DUO link(RES), and the other half using vitremer luting cement(GI). 10 teeth of each group were subjected to thermal fatigue(TF= 2400 thermocycles at S c to SSe) and mechanical fatigue (MF= 960000 loadcycles at max=15kg), in 0.5% basic fuchsin dye
