Abeer Mohamed Atya;

Abstract

VERO cell adapted PPRV vaccine, prepared from reference virus (Egypt 87), was evaluated as a homologous vaccine for protection of goats and sheep againt the disease :

1. The prepared PPRV vaccine is free from bacteria, fungi, and mycoplasms. This indicated that the vaccine is pure.

2. The estimation of virus content of the vaccine revealed that the

PPRV titer is 107 TCIDso/ml.

3. For safety tests, the test animals either goats or sheep remained healthy and neither clinical symptoms nor adverse reactions could be detected through out observation period. The PPR virus was not detected in their secretions. This indicated that the vaccine is safe.

4. A serological response of vaccinated goats with (100 field dose)

105 TCID50/ml of PPRV vaccine was revealed in a titer of 0, 4-8,

32-64, and 64-128; 0, 7, 14, 21, and 35 days post inoculation respectively. While the inoculated goats with (1/10 field dose)
102 TCID50/ml, of PPRV vaccine showed a titer of 0, 2-4, 8-16,

16-32; 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 weeks post inoculation.
