Abstract

In this research, we present the semantic process followed by the author to express the big ideas addressed in his novel. The approach followed is a lexical semantic approach focusing on a tiny component of the construction of meaning, such are the LEXICAL FUNCTIONS. We believe that these play a great role in founding the architecture of textual signals or topical expressions which as a whole express the general topic or the macrostructure of our novel. Our research objective consists in highlighting the great ideas which form the semantic macrostructure of the novel and which are sketched out by the semantic-lexical anchoring through the LEXICAL FUNCTIONS (FL) defined by the Russian linguist Igor Mel'čuk in the framework of his Sens-Text theory, founder of this theory in collaboration with A. Zholkovsky in 1967.
