Réflexion sur les paradoxes discursifs et textuels dans le roman "Loin d'eux" de Laurent Mauvignier.

Abstract

In our novel, the story revolves around what the characters have to say but always without being able to name it because it is inexplicable in reality. It is something that they seek in the depths of their feelings and their thoughts without being able to designate it. In other words, in the text, two levels of language constantly clash: saying and saying (Ducrot, 1985). Each time we find ourselves at the level of the said, or find ourselves stumbled by limits imposed by what we cannot say, for psychic or personal reasons, by the unspeakable: because the latter is ineffable and incomprehensible, therefore consequently incommunicable. These constraints leave its traces at the level of the text and create a specific language characterized by very varied literary and linguistic paradoxes. Our task in this research is to circumscribe the different paradoxes which represent the linguistic foundations of the novel and on which Mauvignier's discourse is formed. We strive to highlight their functioning according to a structural and enunciative approach in order to show the contributions of the originality of his speech. In this, we refer to the theory of enunciation as developed by Emile Benveniste (1976) and to other linguists such as Ducrot (1985), Leeman (1991) and Kleiber (1990a-1990b). We therefore postulate the hypothesis that Mauvignier's genius emanates from paradoxes as the main foundations on which the discourse of his novel is based.
