Chemical Transformations of Chromone-3-carbonitrile with Cyclohexanediones: Synthesis of Bis[1]chromenophenanthrolines

Abstract
The chemical reactivity of chromone-3-carbonitrile (1) toward 1,2-cyclohexanedione, 1,3-cyclohexanedione, and 1,4-cyclohexanedione was studied under different molar ratios. Three isomeric products of angular bis[1]chromenophenanthrolines were isolated. Structures of the new synthesized products were deduced on the basis of their analytical and spectral data.
