Abstract

Information retrieval is a major area of research in various areas. Efficient information retrieval is based on efficient modeling. These models are classified according to two different mathematical modeling approaches: models for term dependency and term weighting. Some models assume term independence, while others do consider this dependency relation. On the other hand, term weighting is a method that tries to index the document in an effective way. The aim of this survey paper is to discuss and esteem different information retrieval models which employ both term dependence/independence, as well as term weighting.
