Abstract

Abstract
In portal hypertension the hepatopetal blood flow is directed away from the liver through collateral pathways to low pressure systemic vessels . Among them there are the esophageal varices , which are the most important clinically because they are frequent source of gastrointestinal bleeding .
Hepatic venous pressure gradient (HVPG) is currently considered as the “gold standard although , it is restricted technique and invasive, also noninvasive techniques include the color Doppler ultra Sound (US) is operator dependent and does not cover the whole portal venous system .CT and CT angiography have become powerful procedures for examination.
The purpose of our study is to detect portosystemic collaterals associated with portal hypertension by CT Portography imaging .
