Abstract


• Epilepsy is one of the most common chronic neurological disorders with neurobiological, cognitive psychologic, and social consequences.
• Magnesium has been effective against CNS ischemia and seizures based on its biochemical properties.
• Hair has a unique potential to reveal retrospective information about the nutritional status and exposure of subjects.
• The aim of this study was to measure the levels of hair and serum magnesium, correlate them to each other and explore the potential impact of magnesium status on disease characteristics in epileptic patients.
