EVALUATION OF SOLDERS FOR COBALT CHROMIUM PARTIAL DENTURES REPAIR

SHERINE MAMDOUH ABDEL HALIM;

Abstract

A cast model representing mandibular class I Kennedy's classification was obtained. The cast model was duplicated to obtain twelve refractory casts. For removable partial denture, Dentaurum alloy and Bego alloy were evaluated in an intact alloy and after soldering of the fractured framework at major and at minor connectors.

The flexural strengths for the two test alloys as intact and after soldering at major and minor connectors were measured and statistically analyzed. Some specimens from each group after fracture were selected and examined using Scanning electron microscope to evaluate the fracture surface.

The obtained results indicated that the intact major connector of Dentaurum alloy had the highest flexural strength followed by soldered major connector of Dentaurum alloy, intact major connector of Bego alloy, intact minor connector of Dentaurum alloy and least value in case of soldered minor connector of Bego alloy.
