Amany Hamdy Abd Elaziz Elsharkawy;

Abstract

• Diabets 'Tiellitus is a syndrome of metabolic disease characterized by hyperglycemia due to either an absolute deficiency of insulin secreticr. or a reduction in the biological effectiveness of insulin and
!•esults in abnormal metabolism of carbohydrates, proteins & fats. Obesity is an excess accumulation of body fat or a body weight 20% over that in standard height- weight tables.
Leptin, the ob gene product, is a 16 KD a peptide hormone secreted by adipocytes and produced in adipose tissue. It stimulates heamopoiesis, inhibits food intake and insulin action, stimulates metabolically active tissues, such as muscle, liver, and white fat. Insulin, polypeptide hormone, is secreted by the beta cells of Langerhans from the pancreas. It is important anabolic agent m muscles, liver and fat cells.
The study was conducted on (45) forty five insulin dependant diabetic children and (30) thirty apparent healthy children.
The study were classified into four groups:

. All groups were subjected to the following:
