EVALUATION OF SAFE AND ACCURATE MODALITIES FOR THE PREDICTION OF OESOPHAGEAL VARICES IN HCV CIRRHOTIC PATIENTS
Mohamed Ahmed Hashish;
Abstract
Abstract
Introduction: Oesophageal varices is one of the most common and life threatening complications of liver cirrhosis. The need for use of non invasive modalities for its prediction rather than endoscopy is important to decrease burdens and increase patient compliance.
Aim: This work aimed to study the accuracy, safety and applicability of different noninvasive modalities to predict the presence and size of esophageal varices in Egyptian cirrhotic patients due to hepatitis C virus infection with no history of oesophageal varices bleeding as an alternative to endoscopy especially in rural & distal areas
