GASTROINTESTINAL HORMONES IN PATIENTS WITH DUODENAL ULCER AND ITS RELATION TO HELICOBACTER PYLORI INFECTIONS

Abstract


This study was conducted in Assiut University Hosptial. It included

113 male patients with symptoms of dyspepsia, their age ranged from 18-

80 years with a mean 38.9±12.2 years. All patients were subjected to upper gastrointestinal endoscopy and classified into 3 groups.

The frrst group include.d 43 patients with duodenal ulcers, their age ranged from 18-61 years with a mean 37. 8±11.4 years.

The second group included 70 patients with non ulcer dyspepsia, their age ranged from 18-80 years with a mean 39.2±12.3 years.

The third group was subdivision from group (I). It included 23 duodenal ulcer patients. The laboratory tests were performed before and after treatment.

Blood samples were taken for the following investigations:

Routine investigations:

• 1- Liver function tests.
2- Kidney function tests

3- Complete blood picture.

Special investigations:

1- Gastrointestinal hormonal assays:

Determination of gastrin hormone level by using radioimmunoassays techniques.
Determination of somatostatin and secretin hormones levels by using

ELIZA techniques.
