External Fixation Versus Internal Fixation For management of BicondylarTibial Plateau Fractures
Mostafa Ahmed Mohamed Mostafa;
Abstract
Tibial plateau fractures are challenging and technically demanding fractures to treat, even by experienced trauma surgeons. Treatment of complex tibial plateau fractures remains difficult. The soft tissue component to the injury necessitates careful timing of surgical fixation in order to minimize wound complications. Being aware of the posterior coronal shear fractures and utilizing the appropriate surgical approach will allow the treating surgeon to apply biomechanically well positioned fixation in more complex injury patterns.
