study was performed to determine t'Ie serum level of

endothelin-1 in patients with coronary heart disease (myocardial

infarction and unstable angina) compared with lhe normal subjects I and to find a possible association between elevatedl serum endothelin-

1 level and the occurrence of myocardial infJction and unstable angma.

A 40 patients were incorporated in this s dy (20 patients of unstable angina and 20 patients of acute myoaardial infarction) in addition to a I 0 normal volunteers. The patients rere cl;.,.sified into 3 groups (groupi=20 patients with myocardial infarction, groupii= 20 patients with unstable angina, groupiii=control s bjects).

All these groups of patients were submitte[to full history taking (including age, sex, occupation, analysis of best pain), complete clinical examination, routine laboratory inrestigatins (urea and creatinine, fasting and postprandial blood sugat, CPK and LDH, liver function test including ALT,AST, serum albbmin and bilrubin, lipid profile including total cholesterol, Triglycrides[ LDL and HDL ) ECG, stress ECG, Echocardioography and fnally serum Endothelin level was also done for every patient in this study..
