Abstract


Cervical incompetence is characterized by recurrent mid-trimester pregnancy loss with painless dilatation of the cervix and prolapse of membranes into the vagma, followed by rupture of membranes and expulsion of an immature fetus.

Cervical incompetence may be due to congenital anomalies, trauma or hormonal factor.

There has been no definite abnormality demonstrated in women with history of cervical incompetence but the classical • obstetric history establishes the diagnosis endovaginal ultr sound examination of the cervix is a precise method of evaluating the cervix and has a significant advantages over transabdominal ultrasound.

Cervical cerclage is the surgical treatment for cervical incompetence, also bed rekt and tocolytic with beta-adrenoreceptor agent has been advocated asl an alternative to cerclage.
